Denise Heather Winter

For more than 50 years, Rosedale Dance has brought generations of dancers and families together through creativity, movement, and performance. Today, the program proudly carries the name Denise Winter’s Rosedale Dance, honoring a woman whose dedication and service helped shape its legacy.

Denise’s journey began in 1984, when her oldest daughter, Wendi, joined the program at age four. As her daughters Lindsay and Emily followed, Denise became increasingly involved, volunteering behind the scenes and eventually dedicating decades to the program and the Rosedale Recreation Council.

In 2001, Denise became Chairperson of Rosedale Dance and later served the Council as Secretary and Vice President. She was the heart behind the scenes—organizing performances, supporting dancers, coordinating volunteers, and making sure every child had the opportunity to shine. Although Denise was not a dancer herself, she was one of the program’s greatest champions.

Her commitment to service extended beyond dance. Denise spent 14 years as a Paraeducator at Red House Run Elementary School and was a talented singer with the local band, Collage. Even after her diagnosis with colon cancer in 2009, she continued to inspire those around her with her strength and dedication until her passing in 2013.

In 2014, Rosedale Dance was renamed Denise Winter’s Rosedale Dance in recognition of her extraordinary legacy. Today, former dancers return with children and grandchildren of their own, keeping alive the community and family tradition Denise helped build.

Her legacy reminds us that dance is more than performance—it is community, connection, and giving every child a chance to shine.
